Indian iron ore exports down by 22%
Iron ore exports through Indian major ports dropped by more than 22 percent between July and October this year as compared to the same period last year and the throughput was decreased to 20.394 million tons.
Among the major iron ore export handling ports, the sharpest decrease was took in Chennai, more than 41 percent at 2.298 million tons, followed by Haldia, 38 percent at 2.109 million tons. Among other ports, Visakhapatnam recorded a 19.2 percent drop at 4.885 million tons, Paradip 14 percent at 3.403 million tons and Mormugao 7.8 percent at 3.926 million tons.
