BHP iron ore deliveries drop to 9 months low
Australian miner BHP Billiton has reported that its iron ore shipments in November was the lowest in 9 months on weakening demeaned from Asian steelmakers. BHP shipped about 10.1 million tons of iron ore in November, which is about 1.4 percent down compared to the October.
On the economic slowdown, its customer has requested to delay about 5 percent or 6 million tons for the total production for the year to June 2009. But BHP said it would not plan to slash Australian production and tried to find ways to minimize the delayed shipments over 2008/09.
